Stock market update: Stocks Soar

Columbus day saw the stocks soaring, with the Dow Jones Industrial index jumping up 11.1 percent or 936.4 points to close at 9,387.6, the NASDAQ also gained a massive 11.8 percent or 195.7 points to close at 1,844.3.

The FTSE 100 surged up by 8.3 percent or 324.8 points to close at 4,256.9; FTSE 250 closed higher by 3.7 percent or 252.0 points at 7,030.4

Looking at how other European countries did after the government bailout talks over the weekend the French CAC-40 surged up 11.2 percent or 355.0 points to close at 3,531.5 and over in Germany the DAX Xetra 30 was up by 11.4 percent or 518.1 points at 5,062.5

Russia did not have such a good day with the RTS index closing down by 6.3 percent or 53.6 points at 791.2

Today in Japan the Nikkei 225 Average is trading sharply higher by 13.6 percent or 1,127.2 points at 9,403.7

the Shanghai Composite index in China is trading up today by 1.2 percent or 25.1 points at 2,098.7

Also this morning (Oct 14) November Crude Future in Asia is trading higher this morning by $2.31 at $83.50 a barrel
