Among other European markets the German DAX Xetra 30 closed down by 5.9 percent or 313.0 points at 5,013.6; the French CAC-40 plummeted by 6.3 percent or 235.3 points to close at 3,496.9

In Japan we see the Nikkei 225 Average is trading higher by 1.7 percent or 157.0 points at 9,360.3;

In China the Shanghai Composite index is trading higher by 0.6 percent or 11.8 points at 2,104.0

Over in Russia the RTS index plunged by 11.3 percent or 96.5 points at 761.6
