Tense Tuesday: Lehman Brothers employees at risk in the UK

On Monday as investment bank Lehman Brothers was placed into administration, thousands of Lehman Brothers employee’s in the UK arm of the troubled bank jobs were put at risk. The Lehman Brothers headquarters in London’s docklands saw worried employees panicking about their jobs as they were left in the dark as to what would be the outcome for them.

The UK arm of Lehman Brothers is said to employ around 5,000 people, they were handed an internal communication as they walked into the building, and this contained high-level information regarding the recent changes that will impact the firm. Lehman Brothers informed their UK staff that they will keep them updated as soon as is possible on the developments and the impact on the UK business of Lehman.

The staff at Capstone Mortgage Services which is a subsidiary run by Lehman Brothers was equally confused as to the future of their employment with the collapsed investment bank.
